Rabbi Moshe Mintz served as a communal rabbi in late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Hungary. He was Chief Rabbi of Alt-Ofen (Óbuda) for decades and, by government appointment, Chief Rabbi of the Pest region. Trained in the Galician–Podolian rabbinic world, he was active in Brody before his Hungarian career and became a central posek during the early emergence of religious reform tendencies in Hungary. His halachic rulings were collected in the responsa volume Shu"t Maharam Mintz, and he also wrote the sefer Pri Yaakov.
