Rabbi Moshe Alshich was a leading darshan and biblical commentator in Tzfat. Born in Adrianople, he studied under Rabbi Yosef Taitatzak in Saloniki and later under Rabbi Yosef Karo, whom he followed to Tzfat. He received semicha from Rabbi Yosef Karo and subsequently granted semicha to Rabbi Chaim Vital. His Torah commentaries, originally delivered as sermons, became widely studied throughout the Jewish world.
