Rabbi Mordechai Gifter was a Rosh Yeshiva in the Lithuanian tradition, primarily associated with his decades of leadership at Yeshivas Telz in Cleveland. After early study in Baltimore and at Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Theological Seminary, he studied at the Telz yeshiva in Lithuania and later helped re-establish Telz in the United States. His shiurim and writings, including the multi-volume Pitei Mordechai on Shas, influenced several generations of American bnei Torah.
