Biography

Rabbi Menachem Azaryah of Fano was an Italian rabbi, posek, and mekubal who was active in several communities including Mantua. He authored numerous works, with his major kabbalistic treatise being Asarah Ma'amarot, parts of which were printed in 1597. A student of Rabbi Ishmael Hanina of Valmontone, his learning also encompassed the kabbalistic systems of Rabbi Moshe Cordovero and, through Rabbi Yisrael Sarug, that of the Ari.
