Rabbi Meir Shapiro was a Rosh Yeshiva and communal leader known for two major contributions to Jewish life: the Daf Yomi program and the establishment of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. He introduced the concept of a synchronized daily study of a Talmud page at the 1923 Agudath Israel World Congress. A member of the Polish Sejm, he founded Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin as an elite institution. His novellae are collected in works such as Ohr HaMeir.
