Rabbi Rabbi Meir Katzenellenbogen was the chief rabbi and rosh yeshiva of Padua for four decades in the 16th century, and was a leading posek in Italy. He authored a collection of responsa, She'elot u-Teshuvot Maharam of Padua, and also published an edition of the Rambam's Mishneh Torah with his own commentary. Through his marriage to the granddaughter of Rabbi Yehuda Minz, he continued the rabbinic leadership dynasty of the Minz family in Padua.
