Rabbi Meir Atlas was a significant figure in the Lithuanian rabbinate and a key figure in the pre-war yeshiva world. He was instrumental in the founding of the Telz Yeshiva and later served as the Chief Rabbi of Shavl (Siauliai). Known for his extensive knowledge, he is also recognized for his role in the "Telzer Dynasty," having selected Rabbi Eliezer Gordon to lead the yeshiva and becoming the father-in-law to Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman, Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski, and Rabbi Yehuda Kahana Shapiro.
