Biography

A talmid of the Maggid of Mezritch and Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke of Nikolsburg, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev served as rabbi in several communities before leading the congregation in Berditchev for over two decades. He is known for his Chasidic work Kedushas Levi, a commentary on the Torah that integrates halacha, Chassidus, and Kabbalah. His approach to prayer and advocacy for the Jewish people before the heavenly court characterized his legacy.
