Rabbi Hertz Scheyer was a German rabbi and kabbalist, born in Frankfurt am Main. He led his father's yeshiva in Mainz from 1778 and became Rabbi of Mainz in 1811, serving until his death. He issued a halachic ruling against the use of an organ in synagogue services.
