Rabbi Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margolios was a Galician posek and author in Brody who was also a successful merchant. He authored many halachic works, including the responsa Bet Efrayim and commentaries on the Shulchan Aruch such as Yad Efrayim and Mateh Efrayim. While sources differ on whether he held a formal rabbinic post, he was a member of the Brody kloyz, maintained a private beis midrash, and was an influential halachic authority to whom many communities turned with their questions.
