Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margolios was a Galician posek and author, born and active in Brody. He was known for his broad scholarship. His Beis Ephraim is a collection of responsa, and his Mateh Ephraim is a guide to the halachos of Elul and Tishrei. His Sha'arei Ephraim covers the halachos of Torah reading. He corresponded with leading poskim of his era, including Rabbi Moshe Sofer and Rabbi Yechezkel Landau.
