Rabbi Ephraim Oshry was a halachic authority known for his responsa issued during the Holocaust. He authored the multi-volume Mi-Maamakim, containing rulings on Jewish practice under Nazi oppression in the Kovno ghetto, which he preserved by burying scraps of paper and later expanded into formal teshuvot. His works also include Divrei Efraim, Otzar ha-Pesach, Imrei Efraim, Chasidei Efraim, and the memoir Churbn Lite on the destruction of Lithuanian Jewry.
