Rabbi Eliyahu de Vidas was a kabbalist and pietist in 16th-century Ottoman Palestine, a disciple of Rabbi Moshe Cordovero and Rabbi Yitzchak Luria. He is known for his work Reshit Chochmah, which synthesizes kabbalistic doctrine with moral instruction, drawing from the Zohar, Talmud, and Midrash. His writings established a model for integrating mystical study with spiritual practice.
