Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Waldenberg was a posek and dayan in Jerusalem, particularly recognized as an authority on medical halacha. He authored the multi-volume shu"t Tzitz Eliezer, a comprehensive work of responsa noted for its extensive treatment of issues in medicine and technology. Serving for decades as a dayan on Israel's Supreme Rabbinical Court and as the rav of the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, he was one of the twentieth century's formative poskim on medical ethics.
