Rabbi Rabbi Dovid Tavele was the chief rabbi of Minsk and a student of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin. He authored several works, most notably Nachlas Dovid, a collection of chiddushim on the Talmud, and Beis Dovid, which contains his responsa and sermons. As a prominent talmid of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, he was considered a direct link in the chain of tradition from the Vilna Gaon, and his leadership in Minsk was one of the most significant rabbinic posts in the region.
