Rabbi Dovid Povarsky served as a rosh yeshiva of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak for over fifty years. He was known for his erudite Talmudic lectures which were a central feature of his tenure at the yeshiva. Appointed by the yeshiva's founder, Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman, he served as part of the leadership alongside Rabbi Elazar Menachem Shach and Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky.
