Rabbi Rabbi Dovid Luria, known as the Radal, was a Lithuanian scholar, commentator, and posek based in Bykhaw who, despite his recognition, never held an official rabbinic position. He is known for his critical edition and commentary on the Midrashic work Pirkei de-Rabbi Eliezer and for his glosses on the Talmud Bavli. Although he functioned as a private scholar and businessman, he was elected in 1854 to serve as the rabbi of Warsaw, an appointment he declined.
