Rabbi Dovid ben Naftali Fränkel was a Talmudist who focused on the systematic study and commentary of the Yerushalmi. His multi-part commentary Korban ha-Edah became foundational for subsequent study of the Yerushalmi and established him as a halachic authority. As Chief Rabbi of Berlin, he guided Moshe Mendelssohn through advanced Talmudic and philosophical study.
