Rabbi Dovid Bornsztain was the third Sochatchover Rebbe, succeeding his father, Rabbi Shmuel Bornsztain. He led the Sochatchover Chasidic court, held communal rabbinic roles, and established yeshivas based on the Sochatchover derech ha-limud. His responsa and teachings in Choshen Mishpat and other areas of halacha circulated among Polish rabbanim and were later compiled into the sefer Chasdei Dovid.
