Rabbi Dov Ber was the principal disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov and his successor as leader of the nascent Chasidic movement. He established his court in Mezhirichi, which became the epicenter from which Chasidut expanded across Eastern Europe. He is credited with systematizing Chasidic doctrine. His teachings were transcribed by his disciples in works like Maggid Devarav L'Yaakov and Ohr Torah, and his students included the founders of many major Chasidic dynasties.
