Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Taubes served as a dayan in Vienna before becoming Chief Rabbi of Zurich in 1936, a position he held for three decades. He compiled the volume on Maseches Sanhedrin for the Otzar HaGeonim series, a scholarly work published posthumously that collected and organized legal and exegetical works of the Geonic period on the tractate.
