Rabbi Chaim Palagi was a leading halachic authority in 19th-century Izmir, whose influence extended across the Ottoman Empire. He served as Chakham Bashi (Chief Rabbi) and authored over 70 published works, including Kaf HaChaim and Moed Lekol Chai, which covered Halacha, Mussar, and Kabbalah. He was granted the official rank of a high-level judge by the Ottoman Sultan.
