Biography

Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin was a leading Lithuanian rabbi, a principal talmid of the Vilna Gaon, and the founder of the Volozhin Yeshiva, the first major yeshiva organized for students from outside a local community. He authored Nefesh HaChaim, a foundational work of Jewish thought that presented a disciplined vision of Torah study, faith, and avodas Hashem.
