Rabbi Rabbi Betzalel Ashkenazi was a sixteenth-century Talmudist and posek who served as a leading rabbinic authority in Egypt and later in Jerusalem. He is the author of Shita Mekubetzes, also known as Asefat Zekenim, a seminal compendium of commentaries from the Geonim and Rishonim on the Talmud. He was a talmid of Rabbi David ibn Abi Zimra, who also taught Rabbi Yitzchak Luria.
