Biography

Rabbi Betzalel Ashkenazi was a significant Talmudic scholar in Ottoman Egypt and Eretz Yisrael. He is primarily known for his Shitah Mekubetzet, a compendium of Rishonim commentaries on the Talmud. He led the yeshiva in Cairo and was a teacher of Rabbi Yitzchak Luria.
