Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook was the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of British Mandatory Palestine. He was a kabbalist and philosopher whose writings explored the spiritual significance of the Zionist movement. His works on Jewish thought continue to be studied.
