Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Bloch was the last Rosh Yeshiva and rav of Telz, Lithuania, before the community's destruction in the Holocaust. His lectures and essays, which embodied the analytical Telz method, were posthumously published from rescued notes as Shiurei HaGrai Bloch and Shiurei Daas. He succeeded his father Rabbi Yosef Leib Bloch in 1930, leading the yeshiva and community while also serving as a leader in Agudath Yisrael and a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah until he was murdered with his family and talmidim in 1941.
