Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel was a talmudist and Rosh Yeshiva in Poland and Lithuania. He served as rabbi in several communities, including Kraków, where he succeeded Rabbi Yom Tov Lipmann Heller. Among his talmidim were the Taz and the Shach.
