Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, known as the Ksav Sofer, was a leader of Hungarian Jewry in the second half of the nineteenth century who succeeded his father, the Chasam Sofer, as rav and rosh yeshiva of Pressburg. He authored the responsa collection Ksav Sofer, the work for which he is primarily known. As head of the Pressburg Yeshiva for over three decades, he led an institution with hundreds of students, continuing its role as a central European hub for Torah study.
