Rabbi Avraham Kalmanowitz was a Rosh Yeshiva and communal leader whose career spanned rabbinic posts in Eastern Europe, wartime rescue activism, and postwar yeshiva leadership in America. He is associated with the Mir Yeshiva and with the rescue work organized through Vaad Hatzalah, including efforts to bring the Mir from Lithuania to Shanghai and then to the United States.
