Rabbi Aryeh Levin served as mashgiach of the Talmud Torah attached to Etz Chaim Yeshiva in Yerushalayim from 1915 until his passing. He regularly visited Jewish political prisoners incarcerated by the British Mandate authorities, acting as their chaplain and intermediary with families, a role he formally accepted in 1931 at the request of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook. He also regularly visited the sick and poor in Yerushalayim hospitals and neighborhoods.
