Biography

Rabbi Akiva Eiger was a prominent Talmudist and halachic authority who served as the rabbi of Posen. His writings include responsa (Teshuvos Rabbi Akiva Eiger), novellae (Chiddushei Rabbi Akiva Eiger), and critical glosses (Gilyon HaShas) on the Talmud and Shulchan Aruch, which became foundational texts in advanced yeshiva study. He was also known for his communal leadership, including his efforts during a cholera epidemic.
